Overview

The Inventory Coordinator will control and monitor physical movement of all inventories within, into and out of the plant.  They will ensure the accuracy and timely posting of all materials and labor hours into JDEdwards.  They will work closely with the Warehouse team, and will be responsible for the accuracy of inventory and postings when the plant does its nightly shutdown.  The Swing Shift Inventory Coordinator's work hours will be from 5:30 PM - 2:00 AM.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

       1) Control and monitor physical movement of all inventories into, within, and outside the Plant

 

  • Ensure the accurate control of inventory of raw material, packaging material, sub-assembly, and finished good products at the Portland-AWI facility and PDX Warehouse.
  • Ensure system data (DSI WMS) matches the actual physical inventory movement to guarantee data integrity and visibility to meet MRP requirements.
  • Identify inventory variances and perform the necessary system material adjustments to maintain data accuracy.
  • Understand and maintain food industry First Expired First Out (FEFO) standards and practices.
  • Communicate and relay inventory and FEFO issues to plant personnel. Promote and maintain a cooperative work environment.
  • Ensure all inventory adjustment transactions are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Report variances and adjustments to Plant Management through current Adjustment process
  • Monitor and report materials approaching expiration. Isolate and remove expired materials from inventory rotation to ensure process integrity and food safety.
  • Support production Return Process nightly to ensure accurate posting on Work Orders the next morning.    
  • Work with Warehouse team on locating inventory issues and resolution on a nightly basis
  • Understand, train and become “Super User” in both JD Edwards system and DSI warehouse RF guns
  • Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities of the movements current RM/PM, sub-assembly and FG inventories  

 

 

  • 2) Support accurate and timely posting of all materials

 

 

  • Confirm Work Order (WO) data entry performed in JDE/DSI and check against production paperwork and physical inventory as production closes nightly
  • Ensure the JDE WO data is accurate prior to posting
  • Confirm and verify, accurate actual labor hours by item as reported by production
  • Confirm and verify the accurate quantity of the material used within sub-assemblies and finished goods
  • Report adjustments made due to reporting errors to the appropriate accounting and management personnel.
  • Perform cost adjustments to correct system posting inaccuracies due to reporting errors.
  • Major focus on lot code accuracy on all raw and packaging materials  

 

 

 

  • 3) Data Integrity and Reporting

 

  • Schedule, perform, and report results for physical inventory/cycle counts
  • Compile daily/weekly/monthly/annual inventory and adjustment reports.
  • Constant communication with day-time inventory team to support accurate posts
  • Maintain proper documentation retention for all inventory transactions.
  • Ensure all inventory adjustment transactions are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the bar-code/warehouse management system to do all of the above.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university preferred; or at least five years related experience and/or training; certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from group managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

None required. Forklift certification would be preferred or the ability to pass a forklift test.
