Overview

The staff accountant will process accounts payable and assist with month end close by following proper accounting procedures. All financial information will be processed in accordance to JSOX compliance. The staff accountant will be expected to prepare reports in a timely and accurate manner. This position will be required to assist in special projects and reports that are requested by the plant and corporate finance. Must be willing to work overtime or weekends in order to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze trial balance and detailed general ledger accounts for unusual amounts or amounts posted to incorrect accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Generate detailed expense reports as requested by Controller for evaluating budget variances and budgets.
  • Assist plant management with inventory physical count reconciliations.
  • Calculate production hours and prepare reports on weekly hours worked.
  • Assist in the development of the plant’s budget through analysis of available resources and forecasting of needs and costs
  • Prepare general ledger entries with proper documentation supporting each entry.
  • Respond to customer, vendor, and staff inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Set up new A/P vendors and maintain existing vendors.
  • Code and review all accounts payable invoices.
  • Ensure proper and accurate allocation of direct labor related costs to cost centers.
  • Provide reporting and financial analysis support to other departments ad hoc.
  • Assist with special projects or reporting (capital, work orders, inventory, costing, internal audit requests)

     

Qualifications

  • B.A. Degree in Accounting or related.
  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Microsoft Applications
  • High degree of communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dealine oriented enviroment
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely information to a high standard
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
