The Safety Manager directs the organization’s safety and environmental programs and training to protect employees against harm and maintain safe working conditions, formulates and suggests safety standards and enforces procedures, meets compliance and reporting/recordkeeping requirements of federal or state regulations, conducts safety inspections, advises management on problem correction, chairman of safety committee. Will be responsible for the safety programs and training for the Carthage and Joplin plants.

  • Coordinates and evaluates the Safety management system’s effectiveness and recommends appropriate corrective accounts for improvement.
  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Monitors and measures effectiveness of all safety programs striving for continuous improvement. Tracks and responds to company and industry-wide safety trends.
  • Identifies, assesses and manages risks and hazards of operations to team members, contractors and all others who may be effected.
  • Plans and implements programs to train supervisors and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health to determine root cause and effective correction actions
  • Provides safety expertise, training and leadership in areas such as industrial health and safety, lock out/tag out requirements, confined space requirements, etc to meet the company’s positive safety culture.
  • Conducts and coordinates accident investigations and ensures completion of corrective actions.
  • Works closely with supervisors and employees to maintain a safe & healthy work environment
  • Incident management, including efforts to continually decrease the number of work accidents, injuries and illnesses by monitoring and developing innovative strategies to reduce incident and accidental rates.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Responsible for environmental compliance and permitting.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Oversees and manages the Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plan (PSM/RMP)


Bachelors Degree (BA or BS) from a four year college or university; or at least five to eight years related safety and health experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
